SUKHUMVIT: NANA PLAZA TO SOI COWBOY TO PATPONG
Bangkok's bars and Go-Go's close around 2pm but there are places you can still enjoy. You have a choice of 3 MAIN areas: Patpong and the Silom area, but the better places are around Sukhumvit Rd, Soi Cowboy. Theres many more areas sprining up everywhere in Bangkok. IIn the evening and up until about 2.00am there are several places to frequent. In Nana Plaza the disco girlie bars stay open till 2am with no cover charge but if you want to take a girl out you must pay the bar fine of 600 baht then negotiate with the girl which will set you back a further 1-2000 baht or? Patpong is the same- but a little better than say nana Plaza whose prices are more expensive. Owned by a foreigner Nana Plaza are getting pretty pushy as is the Nana Hotel & disco & girls who want up to 2500 baht a time.. Patpong had a bad reputation but it depends also on your attitude. Remember too you are a Guest here in Thailand & the culture differences are such that the Thais won't tolerate crap- they tolerate a lot & have no attitude problems like the West-- so leave all your's at home-- if you know what I mean. In Thailand if you get involved with Thais in say altercations be warned you will come off 2nd best. The Police will also take no nonsense so enjoy don't make life difficult & show a little respect even though you don't in you own country..
Everything is negotiable with the girls but agree first otherwise you might be relieved of more cash than you at first figured out. Girls are normally OK as the owners won't tolerate them fleecing the foreigners (Nana Owners-some of whom are foreigners). They don't like the publicity & they certainly don't want the bad stigma that of being reported in the "Bangkok Post" -business is business as they say so unlike Khao Sarn Rd they do well, to discourage so called "fleecing by their ladies of the night". the rest is up to you. ENJOY BANGKOK AS ITS THE ONLY PLACE LIKE IT IN THE WORLD. EVERY NIGHT IS PARTY TIME. Hide your wallet and valuables first if you intend taking a girl back and arrange money before you go to the Hotel --the rest is up to you.

Beer Garden
Sukhumvit Soi 7. Great meeting place for expats with a large circle egg shaped bar & the place for visitors to Bangkok and has had a facelift in 2006 so a lot bigger now. Loads of girls in the afternoon with more coming in at night. Indeed no shortage of women here. There's a few other bars in this Soi (street) with a new food & beer bar area opposite, plus the New Wave Bar. The food's Ok & watch out for the cockatoo--it squauks. If you want to play pool then head across the road & Thai food served. Lots of girls hang around the street & there's a couple of good open air bars in the Soi (street). All around this part of Sukhumvit there's just loads of girls hanging around and more surprisingly when the daylight turns to darkness. However it starts in the afternoon & a definite start to a Bangkok siesta of fun. Ask the price before you leave as there have been a few foreigners drugged & also they may charge 2000 baht. Better to wait and go to Pattaya or Chiangmai @ 500-1000 baht.
The Thermae
Near Soi 15 Sukhumvit, bar-girls are everywhere. The most popular pick up joint late at night is The Thermae Coffee Shop, a basement bar area in Ruam Chit Plaza, where girls congregate from 10pm onwards. Go there late as there's plenty of other places to go and see before you head to this bar-den-jukebox - whatever you call it. It's worth seeing everyone around a big hall staring at each other and it closes at 2.00am-- ideal if you are really desperate but it's amazing who you see there. Many girls are either unemployed, or moonlighting to help their mothers & grandparents back in Essan but the place fills with girls who stop by after leaving their other places of fun; namely the go go's and bars where they haven't been able to pick anyone up. A bunch of oldies walk around selling you drinks and the so called bar in the middle you can actually drink behind?
Nana Hotel
& Angels disco in Sukhumvit Soi 4, opposite Nana Plaza with outdoor Golden Bar always full. This has been a popular after hours meeting place for a long time now and it still gets really packed. No entrance charge & the disco has loud music & lots of girls. Outside on the street there's a bar and all day the girls hang about. A lot of foreigners stay in the Nana Hotel which is OK at 1200 plus baht a night. There's loads of girls here & it's not that far to your room. The Hotel is an OK place to stay and an eye opener for couples. It pays to book during the November-March rush but its an easy taxi ride from Don Muang Airport. The Lobby itself has bars and restaurant plus a booking Office for ongoing travel to wherever you want to go ......
Nana Entertainment Plaza,
opposite Nana Hotel, is a three-story building with an enclosed courtyard. The entire building and courtyard are full of bars run by the Crown Group but no relation to the King Group of Patpong. here its foreign owned. Most are of the go-go (aka "a-go-go") type with female dancers. Lady boys (transvestites) work in one bar on the 2nd floor (which in the west is the first floor) & there are no gay bars. The drinks are dear 125 baht for a beer & around 90-110 for a coke with a lady drink the same so watch your pocket and check your bins to make sure they aren't overloaded especially if yourve had a few to drink. Bar fines are 600 baht on top of the 2000 baht they may want. Make sure when you give a 1000 baht note that you tell the waitress what youve paid. Theres a restaurant (Woodstock) and two short-time hotels (Spirit House and Taboo). Nana starts around 8:00 PM till 2am which may change to even shorter hours. The Nana Complex is dirty, run down and watch out for your wallets. The place has changed as at August 2004.
Feb 19th 2004 in the Carousel Bar on the 3rd floor one of our readers was robbed of his Australian cash when he took a girl home. Some girls are desperate but not all. We visited on this night and there were only 4 foreigners in the joint . A warning to everyone who takes a girl back to your Hotel. Let her have a shower first then hide your wallet and camera etc as you may find the girl missing in the morning and your cash? THE Good News: the next night he went back again to the bar and the lady Thai owner made the girl pay most of the money back --- lucky for him as the Thai owner used to live in Australia & our friend was an Aus --- so remember you guys who come here.Be careful taking 2 girls back to your room and your valuables. If staying in Nana Hotel 2007 they do take note of ID of the girls due to past experiences of girls helping themselves.
Rainbow 2000 is
on the first floor of the building directly opposite the Raja Hotel just 500 metres down Soi 4 on the same side of the road as Angels. More of a disco than Angels, Rainbow gets very full around the early hours. When I say that 1am to 2 am is starting to crank up. Like most Thai joints the music is full on but the service is Ok. Worth a look if new to town.
Soi Cowboy & Nana Plaza
are the strip joint places where the drinks are a little on the high side yet the entrance fee is normally free. You can ask the waitresses if you desire the company of the "fairer sex" & the girls have a number from which you select. Ok but the night but it can be dear between 1000- 2000 baht & a bar fine of 500'-600 baht. Don't pay more than the 1000 baht because the night is young and there's plenty of other places. When you go into one joint you will notice they get worse as you head along to the back one especially in Nana. The small amphitheatre has more go go bars upstairs but after awhile it all looks the same--the girls I mean??. So, why pay a pickup fee of 500 baht and cart the girl around when you'll probably meet them in the Thermae after 3pm !!!!! Soi Cowboy is located (between Sukhumvit Soi 21 and 23). The best place is Long Gun II, which has special shows, including a 'dart'-show. Other places are Black & White and Tilac.
Clinton Entertainment Plaza (or Clinton Plaza)
is a new complex, first opened '99 between Sukhumvit Soi 13 and 15. It has a couple of GoGo bars and beerbars (all outside surrounding the main building). This area has picked up a lot lately and is almost on par with the other areas, but is still too small. Prices are similar to Nanaplaza.
Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel:
Tel (02) 254-1234 has a joint called Spasso's in the basement. Meals are OK & girls are forever present. Don't be fooled though, these are the same girls that you see dancing in GoGo bars, but there prices have just increased somewhat.
GRACE HOTEL:
12 Nana Neua (Soi 3) Sukhumvit Rd. Tel (02) 254-9021 550 rooms around 1000 baht per night. It is now a Hotel taken over by the Africans & Russian's but owned by an Arab. You may find a different type of hooker there if you decide to check it out??? I mean not the Thai ones but the Grace is an OK Hotel. Try the coffee shop in the Grace but watch out theres a lot of strange Arabs etc but lots of painted girls as well. Most of the Russian girls used to freelance around Soi 13 in the outdoor beer garden but this is now a condo and in 2008 its better to head to the Beer Garden in Soi 7..
Between Soi 4 and Soi 2 there is the Ra- Jah Hotel.Annies Sauna & Massage Parlor is located adjacent to it.18 Sukhumvit Soi 2-4, Bangkok 10110, Tel.: 251-5680; 255-0040
Coming from Soi 2 it is easier to find .khun A or khun Jackie. They speak English will make you feel OK. Cost 1000 baht pays for all & girls are behind a big glass screen. Open noon till midnight but worth a look.
EDEN CLUB
Soi 7/1 Sukhumvit. This is now a booming Soi (street) and in 2007 lots of bars opened here. Try it if you want a couple of girls at once. Worth it if you can spare the 3600 baht the French owner charges. A must if you haven't seen what these girls can do?????? theres a good English owned bar about 3 doors past the Eden which is really good, quiet no hassles and great English owner. Try it. SUKHUMVIT SOI 7/1
Try it. Ba Ba Bo Bar I think its called & theres an Aussie Bar the Downunder and a Kiwi Bar as well. In 2008 the whole street is afloat with bars and even a Subway on the corner. Theres even Hotels in this place so good to see and v isit. A must as this area of sukhumvit is teaming with bars, girls and eating places. Its safe as houses
PATPONG RD
Try the King's Castle 1 and King's Castle 2. Patpong takes up 3 sois. However, in the last couple of years the nightmarket (selling fake Rolexes & Amanis,Nikies, etc) has basically taken over the footpaths,& loads of tourists. It has become the place where all the tourists go to have a look at the bars and to get ripped off at the market. Its always crowded and more expensive than other areas. The touts at most of the bars have also become very 'aggressive' in the way they try to get you inside. The bars on the ground floor are OK. There is not a lot of nudity in these bars, although there are some pretty erotic shows on the second floor.However ask how much the drinks are first as they will rip you off. Patpong has lost its charm. Forget about barfining though, the girls may be very attractive, most girls ask exorbitant prices (2,000 Baht short time or more up to 4000 baht all night). Have small change not 1000 baht notes when you drink in bars and watch the waitresses who may say you never gave them the 1000 baht so maybe if you have high notes tell the waitress or waiter so they know what they got. Keep away from upstairs bars who will try to rip you & watch your wallet ---- there are many katoeys (trannies) who work in pairs who just love mobiles & wallets. The King's Group seem the better bars to visit.

OOps! I nearly forgot. If its boy's your'e after then you'd better stay at the Malaysia Hotel & check around Patpong. The Malaysia will put you right as you only need to venture into the Restaurant to find the boy of your choice. This sounds all to easy in Bangkok, & indeed it is. Have fun.
Soi 3: Was a hangout for the Russian girls but a recent bust in February 2007 may have changed this a bit but now its 2008 and a little better. Try another Soi 11 Sukhumvit. Theres more gay places but better to check on Gay sites.
